The Telangana Universities Students Joint Action Committee and the Telangana Youth Force on Wednesday resolved to hold ‘Telangana self-respect rallies’ in Vijayawada, Guntur, Visakhapatnam and Kurnool and sought permission from the government for the purpose.
“Students from 14 universities in Telangana will take part in these rallies. We appeal to the state government to permit the rallies,” said Mr Madishetty Ajay, TUSJAC leader. “We will meet the home minister, Ms Sabitha Indra Reddy, on Thursday and submit a representation.”
The JAC asked all the elected representatives of the Telangana region from the Parliament level to gram panchayats to resign by January 28 or face “social and political” boycott. It resolved to intensify the agitation for Telangana statehood if the Centre fails to make a clear statement on the issue by January 28.

Semester exams have been postponed in the university for the fifth time, following the alleged suicide of MCA student K. Venugopal Reddy on the campus.
To make matters worse, student unions have said they will not allow exams to be held until the Centre announces a time-frame for the formation of a separate state.
OU had postponed the exams four times because of the Telangana agitation.

Telangana is on the boil once again after the suspected suicide of an MCA student on the Osmania University campus.Hundreds of angry OU students called for a bandh on Wednesday and demanded the resignations of all elected representatives from the region in order to give momentum to the separate state movement.
By Tuesday night, the OU students placed the body of their mate outside Arts College and vowed not to allow it to be taken from there until all the MPs and MLAs quit their posts.
